About our Willow Star Kit

The Shopping Basket is the perfect project for a beginner who wants a good
grounding in all the major aspects of basket weaving.

First you'll learn to make a round base - this is a key skill that you can use to make dozens of different baskets. Then you'll learn to weave the sides using two different weaves – Waling and French Randing. Finally you’ll learn to weave a beautiful ornate Border and round the top of the basket and fit a wonderful spiral pattern handle.

What is included in the kit?

In the kit you will receive:

  • A bundle of high-quality willow weaving rods (enough to weave your star with a bit extra left over).
  • A soaking bag - your willow will need to be soaked for a couple of hours before you weave it - full instructions are included.
  • Wire ties for holding your willow in place while you are weaving.
  • Fairy lights to decorate your star.

What else do I need?

The only tool you need to do this course is a pair of garden secateurs. Any will do.

Can I do this course with a friend?

Our courses are great to do in a group! If you would like more than one kit, just select the number you would like at checkout.

After purchase, we will email you a unique access link for each member of your group. All you need to do is forward one of these on to each student. EASY PEASY!
